Highlight of our June 18th event: the Kathak dance performance
Kathak, rooted in the storytelling traditions of Northern India’s Kathakaar (storytellers), is a classical dance form that conveys Hindu epics through expressive movement, music, and rhythm, with subtle Persian influences.
We are privileged to have Punam Kumar of Shivam Arts School of Kathak Dance join us on the 18th. She is the founder, artistic director, and choreographer, and for over 35 years has enthralled audiences across Southern California, establishing Shivam Arts as a respected center for Indian culture and heritage. Her acclaimed productions including Jatayu Moksh, Shiv Vivah, and Mohini the Enchantress, have been staged at major venues such as the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, La Mirada Performing Arts Center, and the Barclay Theatre. She has also been honored by the Cities of Los Angeles and Cypress for her contributions to the arts!
